Driver
Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) is seeking an experienced professional driver to join our friendly team. Working 18.75 hours per week, ideally across Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, the successful candidate will be self-motivated, flexible and approachable, with a Full and clean UK driver’s license.
ELF has a fleet of three cars dedicated to assisting haematology patients. Our ELF hospital patient transport service makes it much easier for patients to get to their appointments at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital; it takes away the stress of the journey and the worry and cost of where to park. Treatment can leave haematology patients feeling very fragile. For many, this service is a lifeline as it is the only way to get to and from the hospital.
Our ELF drivers build a personal bond with patients and their families. They offer a friendly face to talk to and a listening ear. Many anxious or isolated patients look forward to their hospital journey as they get to see and talk to somebody about general everyday life. In this respect, the ELF drivers provide much more than a car journey for our patients.
ELF was founded in 1980 to support patients in Devon living with blood cancer. Our transport service is offered free of charge to patients across Devon to attend hospital appointments. Our team of staff and volunteer drivers supports hundred of patients each year. Previous users of our transport service have told us:

The recruitment process may include a driving assessment and shortlisted candidates will be given full details when invited to attend interview. The successful candidate will need to have an Enhanced DBS check completed before they are able to begin work.
